From the Winery’s Blurb:
Upon arrival at Stone Mountain Vineyards one is amazed at the impressive rustic building built into the side of the mountain. It just looks like it belongs there. Gazing beyond the building to the magnificent view to the east is absolutely breathtaking!
Once stepping inside you are welcomed by the warmth of the pine floors and all of the beautiful woods of the tasting room. The tasting bar itself is built with old heart pine and proudly displays the many awards won by the spectacular wines made there. Cozy furniture adorns the room and invites one to sit and relax with a glass of wine.

Our Visit:
|
We visited Stone Mountain on 25 September 2010. “Be sure to read the driving directions below or on the winery’s web site. Trusting your GPS is likely to take you up the gravelly backside of Brokenback Mountain Road – a harrowing experience for the city-dwellers among us. Once at the top, though, any effort you made to get there will be paid off. The tasting room is 1700 feet up – there’s no higher sipping, or bigger view, in the state. The cavernous, wood-paneled space is sometimes used for wine dinners and winery events, but you’ll have it mostly to yourself when you visit. A wrap-around deck off the front is an engrossing spot to daydream. During our visit, a tipsy couple walked by, one of them marveling, “”Do you know we were out there for six hours?!”" Luncheon boxes ($15) are available to sustain you. Varietals include classics like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as some specialties like Malbec, Pinot Grigio, and Petit Verdot. The winery offers a spacious two-bedroom guest house just up the hill. $125/night weeknights, $145 weekends for a couple, plus $30/person for additional guests. Limited AT&T signal here.
