We are located just minutes from downtown Leesburg, near the historic Quaker Village of Waterford. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Blue Ridge and Catoctin Mountains that can be enjoyed inside through the large windows that encase the tasting room or from our wrap around deck.
Tasting / Visiting:
Tastings cost $5 per person. Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 12:00-5:00pm. Saturday/Sunday 11:00-6:00pm.
Loudoun Valley Vineyards is an unassuming little place, perfect for a quiet glass of Pinot Grigio overlooking a pastoral scene of silos and a hay barn. Friendly attendants walked us through a tasting of seven wines, all made from grapes grown elsewhere. New owners took over Loudoun Valley in 2008, and the winery is rebuilding, with a long term plan of re-planting the vineyards and getting back to bottling estate-grown varietals.
The tasting room is a cozy affair, with two fireplaces and simple wood tables and chairs. The remainders of a wedding set-up, held the previous day, were visible from the modest outdoor deck. The winery offers a picnic of brie/boursin, bread, fruit, cookies and salami for $20, or a smaller cheese plate with brie/boursin, bread and fruit for $10 – no need to request in advance.
The winery’s 2008 Vinifera Red is served at the Westin in Reston.
The Wines: When we visited, the winery was tasting …
Pinot Grigio; Viognier; Classic White (blend of Seyval and Traminette); Chambourcin; Vinifera Red (blend of Cab. Franc, Mouvedre, and Syrah); Dynasty Reserve (Cab. Franc, Merlot, and Touriga Nacional); and Legacy (Touriga Nacional only).
The library of photos for the iPhone App (and the slideshows on these pages) is constantly growing as we visit wineries around the state. All original photography by Rick Collier is available for sale or license. View the collection at:
