“Dying to walk through the vineyards? This is the place. Cave Ridge encourages guests to wander.
The L-shaped winery buildings frame a big brick courtyard overlooking a miles-long view and the Shenandoah Valley. Couples sit quietly for hours on the adjacent deck; no need to talk with a view like that.
In the 2nd floor tasting room, the sense of uncluttered space continues. Plenty of pourers are on hand at the bar to help guide visitors through the interesting menu of all estate-grown wines, featuring a number of very cellar-worthy reds. (If you’re peckish, don’t miss the pepperoni roll, a dough wrapped gooey goodness of cheese and meat.)
No seating in the tasting room, but a third level offers another big open space with mountain views.
At the winery: Large commercial kitchen for weddings and private events; all levels handicap-accessible; light snacks; picnics; pets and kids welcome; groups welcome.
Wines include Riesling, Viognier, rose, Traminette, Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah.
No AT&T signal.”
From the North: Rt. 29 South to Rt. 15 South towards Orange/Montpelier. Stay on Rt. 15 South for approx. 10 miles. Take a right onto Rt. 631/Meander Run Road. The winery is approx. 1.25 miles on the right at the purple mailbox.”
