From the Winery’s Blurb:

At Belle Mount Vineyards you can enjoy complimentary wine tasting and tours of the vineyard and winery. We offer fine Virginia wines made from our vineyards planted on the rolling hills of our recreation facility Heritage Park Resort. In addition to winemaking at Belle Mount you can enjoy cottage rentals, camping, fishing, hiking and swimming.

We grow many European grape varieties, a few hybrids and of course the historic American grape Norton, originally discovered in Richmond. As a Virginia Farm Winery we are permitted to sell directly to our customers – a little like buying from the farmer’s market. Sample our unique offerings in our gift shop and tasting room. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a bottle of our wine on the patio. Look for our wine in select Virginia wine shops and here online. Chardonnay, Merlot and Cab Franc are our most popular fine wines.

Tasting / Visiting Hours: (from the winery’s website)

No tasting fee. March 15 – December 15, Wed-Sun 11am – 5pm – Open for major 3-day Holidays

Our Visit:

“Belle Mount is a big, ol’ rumpus room of a place. A guy’s kind of place. Big and friendly and teeming with passions.

This is way more than a winery – it’s an entire resort, with fishing, hiking, a swimming pool – with a high dive! When’s the last time you saw one of those? And camping: bring your RV, camper, fifth wheel, or tent – every conceivable type of drivable or packable housing is represented here. Or, if you prefer a little more permanence, just rent a cabin.

The tasting room is packed with gifts and stuff, including (when we were there) bins of white Traminette grapes, a new Gewürztraminer-style grape developed by Cornell University and used by only about 20% of Virginia’s wineries. Ray, the owner – a Jimmy Buffet look-alike – is excited about the future of Traminette in Virginia and invited us to try a few grapes. Tasty!

This is a great jumping-off point to explore the fast-growing Northern Neck wineries, and a beautiful, bucolic drive past corn and soy bean fields. The kids get a little something at the resort, and you get a little something at the wineries. What a deal.

At the winery: Weddings and private parties; picnic spots and light snacks available; group tours available (please reserve for 10 or more); year-round cottages available; kids welcome; pets welcome (on leash, please)
