From the Winery’s Blurb:

We are one of Virginia’s family owned and operated wineries. Our wines have won numerous awards and are considered to be some of the finest on the East Coast. Visit our website, visit our winery, attend one of our upcoming events, or order one of our exquisite wines.

A visit to Virginia’s beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains or the Blue Ridge Parkway would not be complete without a short excursions to our winery tasting room.

Tasting / Visiting Hours: (from the winery’s website)

Tasting fee $5. Open April – December, Thursday to Monday 11 – 5; January – March, Friday to Sunday 11 – 5

Our Visit:

Just south of Roanoke, in a valley with a sparkling pond and wide green lawn perfect for the summer’s Friday Nights Under the Stars events, AmRhein is far from its namesake Rhine River, but very much at home.

Artist Kathleen Lunsford creates the stunning labels for the bottles of Petit Verdot (AmRhein’s signature wine), Traminette made in the German Spatlese style, rich Aglianico, full-bodied Melange blend and others.

The tasting room is housed in a red tin building with a gray roof, reminiscent of a (very upscale) farm stand. French doors line the covered patio, and vineyards grow just yards away.

On your way out, take the roller coaster down the mountain to Valhalla Vineyards by way of Bent Mountain Road (US 221) – the jaw-dropping views will make your day.

The winery welcomes private parties and weddings, group tours (call ahead for more than 8 people), picnics, and kids. Snacks for a light picnic are available. Buses and RVs can park.

We had no AT&T signal here.
