The rolling hills between Charlottesville and Wintergreen Mountain are some of the most scenic areas in Virginia, and Nellysford Country Inn is perched right in the center of it all.

The 1900's-era inn has a new name, fresh décor, and new owners, Rich and Mary Tousignant. Rich and Mary’s enthusiasm has already given their inn a multitude of 5-star reviews.

The inn’s wine country location makes for easy drives to DelFosse Vineyards, Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery, Brent Manor, Loving Cup Winery and the popular Bold Rock Cider. A number of breweries and distilleries are also within 20 minutes. Expand your drive to 30 minutes and you’re in reach of nearly every winery on the Monticello Wine Trail

When you’re not taste-testing local libations, check out the myriad outdoor opportunities on the inn’s 26 acres, including taking a dip in an actual swimming hole, launching your kayak from the riverbank, fly fishing, walking the trails, or visiting the resident horses, miniature donkeys, turkeys, and peacocks.

Six rooms and suites include en-suite baths and king-sized organic mattresses, and several have sun porches or private decks.

For those who come to life slowly in the mornings, you’ll appreciate the choice of sitting alone or with other guests at breakfast. Breakfasts are all gluten free and vegan friendly, and special dietary needs are handled easily.

Perhaps most popular, though, is Lily, the German Shepherd who’s decided that Official Greeter is a role that suits her just fine.
