The Virginia Tasting Cellar calls itself "like a mini wine festival," with pours available from up to 12 Virginia wineries - all in one place.
The savvy owners saw an opportunity to bring an attractive place for socializing to downtown Farmville, and also a chance to help some of the more remote Virginia wineries find a bigger audience for their wines. At this writing, you'll find - among other things - Rosemont of Virginia's awesome Rosé (from 90 minutes away, in LaCrosse), Hunting Creek's rich Decadence Petit Verdot (70 minutes away, in Clover), DuCard's awesome Merlot (two hours away, in Etlan), and Chateau O'Brien's Limited Reserve Tannat (three hours away, in Markham).
Inside, the Tasting Cellar offers multiple tasting counters, two fireplaces, wicker rockers, couches and table seating for more than 50 people. Outside, a covered patio overlooks the river.
Tastings are currently $10 for ten pours. Wines are also available by the glass or bottle.
