Note: On weekends, Pearmund Cellars is 21 and over (no kids). No coolers, either.
Owner Chris Pearmund is well known both for his entrepreneurial enterprises and his excellent wines, which have earned numerous awards.
The winery tasting room, outside sitting area and vineyard property have been recently renovated, with a tasting room big enough to accommodate the legions of devotees. Outside, an attractive, covered porch offers plenty of tables and couches -- including blazing fire pits for the fall and winter -- all surrounded by Chardonnay vines. There is an additional tasting bar outside, and sitting areas artfully crafted across the vineyard for privacy. A stately barrel room is a perfect spot for private parties.
Pearmund Cellars boasts the oldest Chardonnay vineyard in Virginia, celebrating 40 years producing healthy, high quality grapes. To supplement its own grapes, Pearmund buys from other in-state wineries to craft a dozen or more styles of wine, including an excellent Malbec and Ameritage (Bordeaux-style blend), and the highly sought-after Viognier and Petit Manseng.
Wines are reasonably priced, averaging $25.
Private parties and weddings, pets welcome outside on leash, group tours, picnics, bus/RV parking.
Reservations required for groups of 6 or more.
