*Double J Lane does not yet show up on internet mapping sites nor GPS satellite. Use 3841 Cobbler Mountain Rd., Delaplane, VA 20144.
On the side of Little Cobbler Mountain, you can feel the peace as soon as you turn into Miracle Valley: horses grazing under golden trees; butterflies and rose gardens bordering a flagstone patio; flags flying, and an 8-foot Angel sculpture gracing the vineyards (donated by sculptor Lei Hennessey-Owen, who's received national recognition for the angels she created for the 9/11 crash sites).
Over-the-top-friendly and funny son-in-law, Larry Snowden (a dead ringer for Darius Rucker) booms out a greeting in the tasting room, an intimate space carved out of a Civil War-era farm house. His wife, Maria, wanders in, and owners Mary Ann and Joe Cunningham come out to chat.
The small winery produces just over 1,000 cases a year, growing all their own grapes (except for the Rkatsiteli - or R-Kats as everyone fondly calls it - which all the wineries get from Horton Vineyards). Wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, a Meritage blend, Viognier, Chardonnay and Sweet Michelle, made from the R-Kats.
Groups of six or more should call for a reservation.
Kids welcome; group tours available; bring your picnic; parking available for buses/RVs; private events and weddings up to 50 people. No pets, please - Turbo doesn't like them.
