A simple little winery in a house that looks like your neighbor's, LeoGrande Winery is another of those “Is this the winery?" stops we come across now and again.
Inside, the gift shop is in the living room, and literature tables take up the eat-in kitchen. In the study, a tasting area is set up on top of wine barrels, and the unassuming owner and winemaker, Norman LeoGrande, pours his mostly-Italian varietals for a small group of locals who stop by regularly to taste what's new and sit in the Adirondacks, taking in the Peaks of Otter view.
Norman's quiet nature belies his bold wines, which include a wonderful Barbera, Sangiovese, and Nebbiolo, plus the fairly rare-for-Virginia Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah, and the ubiquitous Cab Franc.
Norman says he has no desire to get big or fancy; when he goes winery-ing, he prefers finding the diamonds in the rough. We do, too. And LeoGrande Vineyards is one.
Pets, children, weddings and private parties welcome.
