One of Virginia's loveliest wineries, DelFosse was originally owned by the gregarious Claude DelFosse and his wife. After Claude passed away, Michael and Adrienne Albers took the reins in 2016.
The winery sits at the center of a peaceful dell, its big windows looking out toward a scenic pond and sharply terraced vineyards beyond. On the rise, you can make out a log cabin, which has watched over this land for more than 100 years. Today, the cabin's a perfect spot for a private gathering, with a covered deck and stone patio that can seat 75 people.
Check the website for the robust schedule of winery events, including the popular French Crepe Days twice a month.
DelFosse is a bride-to-be's dream location, and the large events tent next to the tasting room sees its share of festivities. With the Blue Ridge mountains as the backdrop, weddings are instantly Instagram-able.
Blessed with excellent terroir, the winery successfully grows a wide variety of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Chambourcin, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Viognier, and Petit Manseng.
Plenty of parking for guests; picnic areas around the grounds; pets are welcome; bring the kids.
