Creek's Edge joined the Virginia wine community in April 2014. Established in 2010, the vineyard contains 11 total acres, 4.5 of which are planted on a 17% grade – that’s extreme dirt farming! Varietals include Chambourcin, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The winery building is gorgeous, an Amish structure with natural materials throughout – local stone, black walnut from the property, hand-crafted metalwork. The centerpiece is a silo staircase, with an interior that mimics the interior of a wine barrel, complete with oak strapped with metal. Upstairs is a private dining area and downstairs houses the winemaking operations.
An on-site bistro satisfies any hunger pangs, with a menu that expands on the usual cheeses and meats to include flat-bread pizzas, fancy sandwiches and more.
If you stay awhile, make use of the spacious deck outside, or the stone fireplace inside.
