Before the thought of a winery was even a gleam in the Chisholm family's eye, Adventure Farm already had already chalked up five decades of farming experience. Now, in addition to beef cattle, hogs, chickens, ducks and crops (corn, soybeans and pumpkins), seven Old World grape varieties are grown, including Chardonnay, Viognier, Chambourcin, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Located about 7 miles north of Charlottesville, the farm offers a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Tasting Room and Farm Shop are surrounded by a pavilion and patios in an attractive, naturalized setting.
Picnic tables are set under a vine-covered arbor for an afternoon of wine, local cheeses & salami. Music is scheduled for Friday evenings (with Food Trucks) and Sunday afternoons.
The farm's premium beef is available for purchase in the shop and is hormone and antibiotic free, grass fed and grain finished on open pastures. The shop also carries seasonal goods such as pumpkins, Christmas trees, wreaths, roping and turkeys.
