The Market at Grelen is a one-of-a-kind destination and part of the new Rural Roots Trail, the "best of the best" of central Virginia (www.ruralrootsva.com).
This charming and growing enterprise started as a nursery, and now includes a casual café, farm market and gorgeous garden shop all wrapped into one. The latest addition is a 3.9 mile free walking trail, which connects to Montpelier’s trails, for a 9.5 mile combined total hike.
Set on a 600-acre tree nursery in Somerset, VA, the Market boasts fabulous views and has a big selection of gardening gifts and supplies, flowers, shrubs, and trees, plus local honey and pick-your-own fruit.
At the Cafe, an extensive selection of local wine, cider and beer is available for on- or off-site. Lunch and Sunday brunch is served, and always includes locally-grown produce, such as Veggies Quiche and scones with the Market's own berries on weekends, plus salads and sandwiches daily.
A huge, elegant tent open to mountain views is perfectly sited on a hillside and ringed by patio seating and stone firepits - a popular spot for wedding receptions and private events.
The Market's Spottswood Lodge, an eight bedroom/seven bath farmhouse and cottage, is nearby for wedding party or family reunion rentals.
Just a 25-40 minute drive from Charlottesville, The Market at Grelen is next to James Madison’s Montpelier and near Barboursville Vineyards and the historic towns of Orange and Gordonsville.
