For Regional Wine Week, the Drink Local Wine group (which was co-founded by our BFF Dave McIntyre) has invited one and all to submit 47-word essays about local wine favs – provided your favs are from one of the “Other 47″ states – that is, states other than California, Oregon, and Washington.

Here’s our entry. What do you think, TMI?

BottlesOne hundred fifty-four empty Virginia wine bottles sit on our dining room floor, big as a barrel. People notice, smiling in that waffle-y way that wonders if lunacy is in the room. I thought I’d make a scrap book, or label collage. I like the bottles better.

I believe I gave a waffley-y smile, but thought you lost your recycle bin.

Ha! Yours was actually the smile that made me think of the word “waffle-y” ;-) I believe I saw that smile later in the evening, as well, when we made you paddle the barge back into port. It WAS a memorable night at Chez Va Wine in My Pocket, wasn’t it?

    I found it quite impressive!

    Thanks ;-)

  3. Great essay – but there are now at least 193 wineries in Virginia, so drink up!

    We’re on it! ;-)

Ok, so I’ve changed how I view my smile – from friendly, open, and warm, to waffley. There may be a future billing for therapy to get passed this. ;) Actually, that paddling incident was very endearing (and, something I would have totally done ‘on purpose’ to my guests just for fun – he he). And… that bottle collection is quite impressive. Very few have such a collection of Virginia wine (and bottles).
